The course incorporates many water hazards, not to mention the Atlantic Ocean! The magnificent setting with Galway Bay surrounding the course on 3 sides makes the course a real golfing challenge.

The 12th and 13th holes have Galway Bay as the back drop. The 13th was designed by Christy O'Connor and has no mounds to help the ball onto the green. On the shoreline by the 16th tee lie the remains of a number of historic small circular stone huts. Between the 2nd and 10th green is the mystical Rathnapours ring fort. The course features the traditional stone walls of Connacht. The facilities at the course are excellent with a luxury hotel on site.
